Arriving in Atlanta

As Jermaine Dupri's song "Welcome to Atlanta" blasted in my head, I looked on in excitement to Atlanta, Georgia; our next stop on our way down to Port Canaveral. About five hours southwest of Nashville, Atlanta was our stop for dinner and a little sight seeing before heading full force to our hotel in Florida. As an Atlanta Falcons fan, I can assure you I was probably the most excited to be rolling into A-Town, never mind the creeping pace we seemed to be moving at. We were heading to Mercedes-Benz stadium, the Falcons' new stadium, and as we slowly made our way along AMB Dr NW with countless other vehicles, that shining stadium was a beacon for attention. Unbeknownst to me, Atlanta is huge on soccer and our pace was set due to the countless Atlanta United fans making their way to watch their team play Kansas City on home turf. Although I was bummed at not being able to glean a closer inspection of the team's beautiful new home, I was able to grab a few pictures of Mercedes-Benz stadium before heading to dinner at Atlanta's Midtown Vortex.

We stopped at Walmart before dinner to grab some items for the cruise, along with a new Falcons shirt for me, before hitting our chosen dinner location. We chose the Vortex due to its eccentric branding and amazing looking menu and were not disappointed. The Vortex, with its laid back air and bizarre decor, was truly a good place to stop and take in some of Atlanta's downtown atmosphere. The restaurant was a wonderful way to people watch while taking a break from our travels and enjoying a delicious meal. With full bellies, we headed back to the car to hit the road once again. "Florida, here we come!"

We were in Atlanta at most two hours, but I knew instantly I would have to go back. I haven't made it back just yet, but I'm hoping to go back in the next few years to do some more exploring and to catch a Falcon's game!
